Bio:

For decades he had walked amongst the shadows of ancient forests, evil crypts, and decaying cities. He had been born on the eve of a Hunter’s Moon, an ominous sign of great portent. His mother, a human woman, had been entranced by a man who she thought to be a great nobleman. After giving birth to the man’s doom-marked son, the mist was lifted from her eyes, and upon realizing her lover’s true nature his mother fled the city where she had given birth, taking only the clothes on her back and her young son.

Following their flight from the city of his birth, he was trained by his mother in the druidic ways that were a part of his heritage until his fifteenth birthday. That night there was a blood moon, just as on the day of his birth. He awoke in the middle of the night to the sounds of a struggle followed by a scream, but by the time he had made his way to the source his mother was already dead. As he stood over his mother’s body he saw a man riding away under the crimson moonlight. Despite the darkness, he could make out the features of the man as though it was broad daylight; the man’s features, which were so eerily similar to his own, marked the man as his own father.

His mother had not spoken more than a few words about his father, but she had told him that he was different from normal humans. She had also told him that his father was the reason they had lived so deep in the woods. Still, his mother had been a druid who loved all of Gaea’s creations equally, and so she had never held his father’s blood against him.

Years passed, and he grew up alone in the wild, using the skills that his mother had taught him. Over time he began to realize that he was faster and stronger than his mother had been, and that he had other abilities that she had not shared, such as the ability to see in the night. He found solace in the quiet of the night, as it allowed him time to hunt and reflect in silence.

It wasn’t until he turned twenty that he finally encountered a person other than his beloved mother or his murderous father. One sunny day, while tracking a wounded doe for his meal, he encountered a scent similar to his mother’s. Deciding to follow it, he tracked it to a small clearing. But as he approached the clearing, he began to notice that many other smells were mingling in the area and he could hear the sound of laughter and other activities. With the training and understanding of Gaea that his mother had given him he had become a druid in his own right, and using those powers he shifted into the form of a brilliant white wolf and snuck to edge of the clearing. As he peered into the clearing he was mesmerized by what he saw. Around a fire there sat six strange looking people, each of them reminded him of the stories his mother had told him of the other races who existed within Gaea. Enchanted by the sights and sounds of the group he stealthily followed the party for months until they reached a small town.

Upon arriving in the town he stole some clothes so that he could follow them in. They had stopped at a small building, so he casually followed them in. He immediately was aware of the many other kinds of people enjoying themselves in the inn with various kinds of food and drink. The party he had been following was in the corner of the establishment, so he casually made his way to a table rather near theirs, but before he could take his seat a woman in the party turned to him.

“How long do you intend to follow us?” she said. Struck by the cat-like grace in her eyes and startled by the fact that he had been noticed so long ago, he couldn’t think of a reply. However the woman did not wait for an answer, instead she simply said, “why don’t you sit down?” Surprised by her offer he did, and for the first time since he had been tracking them he had a close look at the six. They asked his name and so he reluctantly told them, “I am Lecarde, a follower of the laws of Gaea.” After that they each introduced themselves to him. He listened to each and studied their countenance but one caught his eye above all the others. It was the woman who had first asked him to sit. She was startling beautiful, and yet there was something wild and free in her eyes, something that reminded him of the forests he called home. They spent the evening telling him stories of their adventures, and only asked him a little of his own past. He found that he enjoyed their company and was slightly embarrassed but still pleased when they asked him to join them rather than follow behind while they went on their next mission.

The group had been hired to kill some goblins that had taken over a nearby fortress. He gladly accepted and they went about their mission. The mission was a great success, and upon completing it he agreed to join them in a more permanent sense. Lecarde ended up spending the next couple of years as a member of the group, becoming a seasoned druid during that time. The membership of the group was somewhat fluid, with some leaving, some dying, and new members joining in their places. But through it all, the woman remained, and they became good friends during the time they spent together.

On the night of his 24th birthday the woman asked Lecarde if he would like to stay with her forever. Startled, he immediately thought back to his mother and how she had been murdered by his father. Scared that he might turn out like his father he shifted to his usual form of an adult white wolf and ran off into the woods. His thoughts were scattered and his heart was beating fast as he made his way further into the trees. Finally he stopped and tried to collect his thoughts, but his fears overwhelmed him and he blacked out.

After a time he awoke to find himself back in his human form some distance from the campsite, but not where he remembered blacking out. Confused but feeling more in control, he decided to return to his friends. Upon arriving at the camp he found all of his friends lying dead around the campfire. The way they had been murdered left only two suspects that he could be sure of; his father,… or himself.

Refusing to believe that he would commit such a heinous act, and certain that it must have been the work of his father, he shifted into something primal and began to make his way into the forest searching for a sign. Only then did he realize that there had been another blood moon that night. With a twisted grin of rage and despair on his face, he vowed to that moon that he would hunt his father down and kill him, and that he would have vengeance for the death of his mother and friends.

Decades slipped away as continued his search, but he was not able to find his father. During that time he joined other parties but, afraid to feel anymore loss, he did not allow himself to become close to anyone ever again. Despite his certainty that his father had been the one to commit the crime, he could never quite rid himself of the shard of doubt that maybe the real killer had been himself, or that even if he had not committed the crime, one day he might commit a similar crime thanks to his father’s blood. Because of this, he decided that he must find a way to seal off his vampiric urges.

Over a period of years, he devised a way to carry out just such a desire and seal away his heritage. However, the ritual backfired, and instead of sealing away his bloodlust, it sealed away his druidic knowledge and abilities. All of the powers that Gaea had granted him were gone, and after a period of intense study Lecarde realized that he would have to regain them from the ground up if he was to reacquire the power he once had. This frustrated him immensely but he was driven and determined to keep his vow; he would find a way to defeat his father and end his bloodlust. He would return to the forest once again, until the time he would hunt his father once again…
